The Open Championship is one of the world’s greatest golfing tournaments and Merseyside has two ‘Open’ venues – Royal Birkdale and Royal Liverpool.  Along with these famous courses there are also many challenging and popular golfing venues that make Liverpool an admired region for golf enthusiasts.

Places like ‘Anfield’ and ‘Goodison Park’ are the homes of Liverpool’s two premiership football teams that attract thousands of fans both locally and nationally.  ‘The Reds’ are England's most successful club side, having won more major trophies than any other team including many league championships and five European Cups, more than any other British club.

Everton have an impressive football history of their own, with many league championships to their name and five FA cups, they’re Goodison Park home has been graced by some of the game’s wonderful talents including legend ‘Dixie Dean’.

Along with golf and football, the famous Grand National is host to crowds of 80,000 every year and is one of the world’s most famous steeplechases.  Ladies' Day at the Grand National is now the fastest selling day at the John Smith's Grand National meeting and attracts crowds of around 50,000.
