When ‘The Beatles’ broke up in 1970 Paul McCartney went solo and made the album; McCartney. Following this he also formed his own band - ‘Wings’, which featured his wife Linda.
Paul McCartney acted in the film ‘Give My Regards to Broad Street’ and has also appeared in several TV documentaries. He has maintained a fantastic career as a recording artist.
In 1997 he was knighted for his services to music and he dedicated his knighthood to fellow Beatles; John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and the people of Liverpool.
In 2001 McCartney paid an emotional tribute to this wife Linda who had died of breast cancer in 98 with the documentary ‘Wingspan’. He composed various classical pieces following on from this and earned an Academy Award nomination for best original song with the theme from the hit film ‘Vanilla Sky’.
