John Lennon Biography

All going their separate ways in 1970 when The Beatles broke up, John Lennon went on his way to beginning a successful solo career and released his first solo album – Imagine.  Imagine was the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed of all John Lennon’s albums following the split of The Beatles.

After the Beatles broke up, Paul McCartney wrote some songs with hidden messages in them that upset John. In response to this John Lennon wrote, How do you sleep? and released this also on the Imagine album.

In 1972 Lennon gave a charity concert in Madison Square Garden to help improve the living conditions of the mentally handicapped children.  John and Yoko did various rock concerts as their statement of peace and love.  In 75 Yoko gave birth to another of John’s children and he left his music career in order to raise their second child.

John Lennon later released another album named Double Fantasy, which was released in the beginning of 1980.  All songs featured on the album were written within 3 weeks.

Unfortunately, John Lennon was shot in front of his apartment complex in New York, USA while he was in the process of releasing another album called Milk and Honey. Lennon died at the age of 40 in the Roosevelt Hospital on December 8th, 1980.
