Liverpool John Moores University is a more modern university and is named after John Moores – a British business-man who is most famous for founding Littlewoods retail company that was originally located in Liverpool before expansion. Liverpool John Moores University was originally called Liverpool Mechanics School of Arts and changed its name to Liverpool Polytechnic further down the line before eventually gaining University status in 1992.
On the other hand, Liverpool’s high reputation of college based education is brilliant. From arts to computer programming, Liverpool’s range of different colleges offers their students a broad variety of courses to obtain qualifications in and caters for everyone needs.
